Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of actualization of the values of Just and Civilized Humanity among students, analyze the role of the academic environment in supporting and hindering the implementation of these values, and identify the challenges faced by students in actualizing them within the campus environment. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design conducted at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Padang. The research informants consisted of lecturers, faculty administrators, and students from various study programs selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through participatory observation, structured interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, while triangulation techniques were applied to ensure data validity. The results indicate that the actualization of the values of Just and Civilized Humanity among students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Padang is reflected in attitudes of tolerance, mutual respect, cooperation, and social concern in both academic and non-academic activities. The academic environment plays an important role in supporting the implementation of these values through learning processes, student organizational activities, and various programs that foster character development and social responsibility. However, the implementation has not been fully consistent, as individualistic attitudes and low participation of some students in social activities are still evident. In addition, academic pressure, peer influence, and low social awareness remain significant challenges in actualizing the values of Just and Civilized Humanity within the campus environment.
